Freedom & Honor
"Celebrating Liberty & Legacy"

Serendipity Studio invites artists of all mediums to submit work for our upcoming exhibition, Freedom & Honor. This show seeks to explore how these powerful values are woven into our personal and collective lives. We are calling for artworks that reflect liberty, dignity, sacrifice, resilience, and remembrance—whether interpreted through history, symbolism, or personal story. Submissions may be literal or abstract, celebratory or questioning, traditional or experimental.

Freedom & Honor is more than a reflection on patriotism—it is an invitation for artists to explore how these values shape our lives, our communities, and our identities. This exhibit calls for diverse interpretations, ranging from the deeply personal to the universally symbolic.

• Freedom may be expressed as wide-open spaces, liberation from constraint, voices raised in song, or the quiet dignity of choice. It can be represented through movement, color, abstraction, or narrative—whether rooted in history, culture, or the imagination.

• Honor invites artists to reflect on sacrifice, respect, legacy, and the weight of responsibility. Honor may live in a family tradition, in a community’s resilience, in remembrance of those who served, or in acts of integrity and justice.

We welcome work that balances these ideas, contrasts them, or explores their tension: What must be given up for freedom to thrive? How do we honor those who came before us? Where do freedom and honor intersect in daily life?

We encourage submissions that capture:

✅ Nature & Symbolism: soaring birds, expansive skies, resilient trees, rivers as pathways to freedom.

✅ Personal Journeys: moments of self-discovery, triumph, or quiet dignity.

✅ Cultural Heritage: traditions, rituals, and stories that honor identity and collective memory.

✅ Abstract Expression: bold colors, layered textures, or forms that convey struggle, resilience, and hope.

✅ Remembrance & Legacy: honoring ancestors, mentors, or individuals who embodied courage and integrity.

We host a variety of art calls throughout the year, and encourage you to consider all of them. Best of Show & People’s Choice award winners have a chance to win cash prizes.

Eligible Mediums:

• 2D Art: Painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, digital art, and mixed media

• 3D Art: Sculpture, ceramics, glasswork, textile art, and found-object creations

To participate, please do the following:

1. Submissions are open to artists of all levels, backgrounds, and ages.

2. Each non-associate artist may submit up to 3 pieces for consideration. Associate artists may submit up to 6 pieces for consideration.

3. Submitted artwork must align with the theme of Freedom & Honor: Celebrating Liberty & Legacy.

4. Artwork should be original and not infringe upon any copyrights. Please be aware that we will not accept any artwork that is deemed pornographic, hateful, or violent. Artwork previously submitted to other exhibits will be rejected.

5. Please provide a brief artist statement with each submission, explaining how your work relates to the theme.

6. Digital submissions should be high-resolution images (300 dpi) in JPEG or PNG format. Please resize to 1920 pixels along the longest side. Please be aware that these images are utilized by Serendipity Studio to build the online exhibit as well as promote the exhibit in marketing, so please submit your best images.

7. For physical submissions, please contact us for delivery instructions.

8. Additional information below must be submitted by email to serendipitystudiosd@gmail.com.

9. Identify each image with title, medium, size, and retail price

10. Do NOT just simply include a link to your website/Instagram/Facebook, etc.

11. Please complete the form below.

If you are selected, you will be emailed a contract further explaining the terms of the agreement. The costs associated with the call are a $30 fee per piece that is selected, unless you are an Associate Artist of the gallery, in which case your fee will be reduced by $25 per piece. The gallery retains a 25% commission from all sales during the exhibit, unless the artists have an existing Associate Artist agreement.

$5 of each submission fee will be donated to The Vet Center. We appreciate all that they do help serving veterans in the area.
