Roadtrip Sunset

Roadtrip Sunset is an original acrylic painting inspired by one of my first roadtrips with my boyfriend (now fiance) Matt.

Cruising the interstate, windows down, watching the farmland rolling by - sprinkled with towering wind turbines. I didn't realize it then, but I was starting my new path in life... A life filled with trips, music & art, all with my best friend. The farmland & turbines represent our beginnings; ancestors moving their livelihoods to pick up farming in the US Midwest, staking a new life for themselves & future generations. My grandpa may have even worked on these wind turbines; inspecting for safety & building a baseline for renewable resources. Two generations later, I am still in awe at the grandeur of these monolithic features of our landscape. Our lives take many different paths - and each step is monumental to where we will end up at... Each time I get back on the road, I think of this moment - and wonder where my life will be next time I'm staring at the open road.
