Laundry Games

During the early months of summer, the blue jays were nesting…their shrill calls echoing through the trees, the blue feathers brilliant as the filtered rays of sunlight illuminated them…this vision was a typical scene that was peaceful as we sat in the boat fishing…but when it came to laundry day, the sassy birds would take turns swooping down us as if they were playing a game of tag…one day they were especially feisty, apparently protecting their newborns…gramma eased my trepidation by clothing us in our football jerseys and helmets to shield us from their sporting jabs…these laundry games continued for a couple of weeks until the blue jays finally called it a tie with us green bay packers…until the next season
